You gets what yous pays for in this world, why not look at a hybrid frame alloy and carbon.Eg carbon fork and carbon rear triangle you might get more frame for your money than some cheaper end full carbons.

I agree with rob and say get a giant, iv also got a tcr, but myn's a a bin newer , i'v had it for 2 years now and its still brillient. To get the best price my advice is just look around or buy the frame, buld it up from there and you can put what you want on it.

You can make a much bigger difference by training more and being fitter than the difference a bike can make for you.
I've had 4 years on my Ridley Boreas and the last two racing a Pinarello Prince can I tell the difference???? I would say the Prince is a bit better but really the difference you gain may be important to a pro but not your normal rider.
Much of getting a new bike or one that's more expensive or made of different materials is about cache and how it makes you feel, lets face it we all like nice stuff. I like Rob's philosophy and look how good he is. Jake Tanner would whoop my butt if he was riding a tandem made of iron girders by himself. So save your money and get fitter!! Drew probably won't like me for saying all this as he's in the business of selling bikes however he obviously knows his stuff when it comes to bikes.

Not heard of anybody say anything bad about any of the Ridley frames. Try checking out what one of the main club sponsors can do for you.

Nah, don't listen to any of them just buy a Cervelo but get Drew to build it up with nice bits and bobs for you cos he does a top job
But like Foodmagnet said earlier, it's all about training more and being fitter - maybe this YouTube video will give you some help when making that all important choice!!

This is a very good point and well worth considering!
Several years ago I was advised to have a frame that was built in England as the prices were very competitive and availability was good. However I'd heard of some dodgy cheap frames being built there so I bought one from the Isle of Wight instead.
To be honest it didn't necessarily have to be from the Isle of Wight. Any small island off the coast would have done .

I think it's great and i'm not sure wether to believe the manufacturers when they say there latest frames are 50% stiffer than there previous models or whatever.
I would'nt mind the new TCR advanced, but would i really tell a difference? Weight wise there's nowt in it. Would it just come down to looking a bit more with it than my older steed. Can't really justify the expense at the moment.
I think you can pick TCR frames up between £300 - £350 on flee bay. Or you can have mine for £700
As for PX frames. I know good riders who use them with no complaints. |

Now I know why they call you Squeaky! But I think Wishy Washy Watkinson is better!
As for frames, there is some right rubbish talked. You do get what you pay for. The frames that you and I were paying £500-£1000 for a couple of years ago were being sold by the Chinese to America for $4 a frame. The same thing happened with Steel, suddenly the bike manufactures told us alloy was much better. Now alloy is old hat, everyone must have the latest carbon whatever. In fact what has been overlooked is the properties that make a bike frame good, which are offered by steel.
Modern technology? No, surplus of materials in China? Yes!
That said, I'm off to Race Scene to pick up their latest carbon offering..baaaaa

It looks like the best carbon frames are the steel ones. But don't get one under a £1000 as there are some real cheap steel frames coming in from China.

This issue is getting a bit tired now. To sum up. One old timer when asked by a rider, How can I go faster? the old timer said push harder on the pedals. Say no more.
